Welcome to Our Website!

16th October at 7.30pm: 'Aspects of the Life and Work of Charles Darwin' - a talk by Chris Barker in the Visitor Centre...

The Friends of the Garden was established in 1982 with the aim of encouraging greater public participation in Durham University Botanic Garden. We currently have around 550 members. You can find more information on the Friends if you visit the About Us pages.

Becoming a Friend is a great way to support the Botanic Garden and the money raised helps fund a wide variety of projects. During the year, Friends enjoy many activities including social events, talks, organised trips and visits, guided garden walks, plant sales, the opportunity to volunteer and, of course, the benefit of free entry. Visit the Activities pages for more details.

The Garden has much to offer including a tropical house, a cactus house, beautiful woodland, a wildflower meadow, an arboretum, an alpine garden, a visitor centre/coffee shop and free parking all close to the centre of Durham.

We invite you to join us!
