Mike's Blog - Day 109

Lovely sweet lemony/sherbet/opal fruit smell in the tropical house this morning that’s unmistakable. The Aristolochia grandiflora in flower. A bit of clambering and I managed to find them as they were well hidden.

Dutchman’s pipe is the common name for them due to the large pouch-like bag behind the flower. The flowers have the “dead meat” look that some of the smelly Arums have (see Day 77) and some of the insectivorous plants (see Day 92) but thankfully a very pleasant smell.

The bamboo is proving to be painfully slow. This how it is on day 7.
