Mike's Blog - Day 180

A nice Buddleia on the Japanese bank below the winter garden for you today, Buddleia lindleyana.

Here is a closer-up.

It’s been growing there quite a while now and seems to be doing better every year, but I think it might do better still on a warm sheltered south wall.

However, given that they sometimes recommend this as a greenhouse plant and apparently only hardy to -5°C, I know it’s had much colder than that so it’s doing well to survive at all.

The older it gets the more woody it gets. It should, therefore, get more hardy with age as it has the chance to grow back from the more hardy woody material if it does take a hard hit one winter.
