Mike's Blog - Day 202

This is a really nice plant from South Africa and Zimbabwe that flowers well into the autumn. Scarlet river lily, Schizostylis coccinea ‘Major’ (of course a name change! - now Hesperanthera coccinea ‘Major’).

Here is a close-up of the flower.

Easy to grow if you have a warm spot. Great against a sunny wall or raised bed where it won’t be too wet over the winter.

There is a white form available and various shades of pink too, but I think this red takes some beating.
