Mike's Blog - Day 212

After all that rain it’s nice to see the sun again, albeit very briefly.

We had the American yellow buckeye (Aesculus flava) on Day 150. It’s the ‘yellow buckeye’ because of its flowers, but what fantastic autumn colour especially against the blue sky.

Here it is again with the long shadows of late afternoon.

Also, as promised, some much closer images of a springtail in the compost pile. The one where you can see a single “hair” coming from its body is amazing, as is its body surface.
