We made a good start on the winter garden this week, not bad for day 4 of starting back considering the rain, sleet, snow, frost, fog and ice.
One job was to fell and remove a very large Leyland Cypress which was taking all the light from the winter garden and the snowdrop bank there.

We had it climbed and felled by a contractor for us last month.

So it’s just a case of cutting it up now and getting it away.

It’s also opened up a view to Fungate which is great as not everyone can manage the final steep slope to get down to it.

Once we have cleared the tree, the next step is to uncover the snowdrops. The area has become overgrown with bramble. We normally clear it after the snowdrops die down but that job got missed last year.
