Mike's Blog - Day 33

All the 3’s, got to have Trilliums then. These are slow growing woodland plants that grow in the woodland of North America and Canada. They have 3 of everything, 3 leaves, 3 sepals and 3 petals. Ours are in full bloom in the woodland garden now, but just like bluebells will disappear in summer and come back next spring, classic woodland plants. The general view of them shows 4 different ones.

In the foreground is Trillium albidum, then Trillium erectum, the white form “Album”.

Then the red one is Trillium ludovicianum (the Louisiana wakerobin). This has attractive mottled leaves too.

Very top is the big white flowered one, Trillium grandiflorum.
