Mike's Blog - Day 84

Woodland Garden : Primula “Inverewe”, this is a grand candelabra primula, bright red and lovely silver farina on its stems. I was so pleased to see this as it doesn’t really thrive like the others.

The next day there was just one flower spike. On closer inspection, I found the severed flower laid on the ground and turned to mush with the rain, its stem sliced with a clean 45 degree cut 6” above soil level. Classic rabbit damage.

Inverewe, for those who don’t know it, is a garden way up north on the west coast of Scotland. It has the most amazing collection of plants in an absolutely barren landscape. Certainly worth a visit one day if you have never been.
